I went to the zoo, and for six hours I just walked around and sketched things. It was a beautiful day and the zoo is great for sketching people as well as animals.
And yesterday I had sushi for lunch. I drew before the food got there….and I would have drawn the food, but I was famished!!! I’ll draw some sushi next time I get some, I think that would be fun.

And last but not least….I’m in a sketchbook scramble. Basically I received a little sketchbook and I’m supposed to fill it out and send it back. They go on display for a little while and then your sketchbook gets sent to one of the other artists with your email. I thought this was a great idea (I haven’t had any of my art displayed since I was in kindergarden) and have been excited about it since I signed up. Well, I’ve got my sketchbook….I’ve had it for two weeks….and I have yet to draw anything in it. I am so intimidated by this little blank sketchbook because other people are going to see it and judge me by it and I want it to be amazing. My best work….but it’s a sketchbook…it’s for the ideas and the experiments and the mistakes. I carry it with me everywhere…and I take it out and look at it….but I just can’t start it. *sigh* It’s silly, being intimidated by a sketchbook. I have two weeks to finish it before I have to send it back in, and I will finish it…I just need to start it.
