Little Sketches Throughout the Days

I promised the good…..and the not so good. Here are some sketches, just ideas or inspirations that hit me. I haven’t worked on a big piece in awhile. I think I would like to start one soon. As soon as my room is organized.

Okay…stop laughing…..here’s some sketches:

This is just a guy at a volunteer meeting I went to. Someone sat down in front of me and blocked my view before I could give him arms.

Coffee cup, paper plate, and napkin of the women in front of me at the meeting.

Fun little pond scene. Yes, I know I put a saltwater fish in a freshwater pond, but it’s not my fault…..really. He wanted to be there.

Then they started talking about the South Pole, and I thought polar bears, then penguins and seals came next. Not sure why the candle was there….it was a very long meeting….

This one was inspired by a painting Leslie White did. You can find the link here:   http://lesliepaints.wordpress.com/2009/12/24/merry-christmas/

Sorry, you’re going to have to copy and paste because I’m lame and not sure how to make links…but seriously, check it out. It’s a very good painting.

This sketch was inspired by Monet’s ‘Woman with a Parsol’ painting. I would like to get some references and really try to draw more of this type of clothing.

(if you know how to post links, please tell me.)

Last, but not least, a drawing of my new phone, The Rogue! I love this phone, touch screen, super nifty, and yes Weifei, the bunny is still around!

So those are all the sketches I’ve done over the past week. Like I said, hopefully I’ll get into a bigger project soon. Although I do have a few ATC swaps coming up, so keep a lookout for those!

Sketch Crawl!

Alright, so I’ve been meaning to write this one for a while. I’m to tired to put the drawings in order, sorry. It has been a very good Thanksgiving and I am tired.

I really like this first fish drawing. It’s got a light green background that didn’t scan in, but I just picture him saying ‘hi there!’

This second one is an ATC for a surreal swap. I’m in a fish mood I guess. I read something about flying fish and this is what came to mind.

I went to a sketch crawl this past weekend. It was pretty cool. I found a very neat little tea house and met lots of other artists. Plus I got to draw for two hours which was very nice. This is the website to the idea of sketchcrawl: http://www.sketchcrawl.com/index.html

It was hosted by Utrecth so I got some cute erasers and a pencil for going. I hope they host more of those because I really did have fun.

This is the second page I did on my sketch crawl. I was trying this idea out for my surreal swap, but I haven’t refined it yet. I still really like the idea of fish swimming in a window with a sky for a background. I think I will play with this idea for a little bit longer.

One of my other challenges was a cute robot swap. It  was harder to draw a ‘cute robot’ then I thought it was going to be. I like how they came out though. I got the dino robot idea from my friend.

I started drawing this ATC but I fell in love with the simplicity of it. So I haven’t finished it, but it is sitting on my desk. It just makes me smile.

Since I am making most of my Christmas gifts I will not be updating my blog unless the recipient have received them…..or I get the time to work on other things besides gifts.

Promised Sketches

I’m not posting as often as I really want to. I’m going to try to change this. So here are some sketches I’ve done within the last few weeks. I finally got my scanner working. YAY!

wine barThis is a sketch of a wine bar my friend discovered. Lucky for me she was late showing up, so I got a chance to sketch a little bit. I really like the atmosphere of this place, I’ll most likely go back to sketch some more.

buhdaThis statue piqued my interest at a pool party. I didn’t mean to be anti-social, but I had to sketch it. I really need to learn how to shade with my micron pens.

lion koalaI made myself go sketch at the zoo. I wasn’t really in the mood, but I really really am trying to draw more. So I did not do to many drawing, but these are two of them. I really like how the koala came out. I used a conte pencil for the first time, much less messy then conte crayons.

Shading seems to be my biggest problem. I’m intimidated by it, I don’t do it because I tend to ruin drawings when I do instead of enchancing the subject. I’ll learn, but in order to do that I have to tackle it, not avoid it. So I think that will be my project for the rest of the month. Work on shading. Which means, I’m sorry to say, there’s going to be lots of bad drawings on this blog for awhile.

I like art supplies and drawing because I can create something beautiful even though I’m feeling ugly inside. I’m not at the moment, but I realized this as I was browsing the art store in a bad mood yesterday. I thought I would share, because this seemed very important to me. That I could create beauty when I couldn’t find any myself.

Life Drawing

This was supposed to be the last life drawing class of this session. I’m very glad that it is not because I’m not the happiest with these drawings. We have enough people interested that we’re going to have one more session.

Although I did look through my whole sketchbook, from the beginning of the class til now, and I think I have really improved. I’m very happy that I took this class.

I’ve been doodling in my mini sketchbook, which I haven’t done for awhile. As soon as I get my scanner up and running I’ll put a few of those drawings up.

It’s time to start looking at which art class I want to take in the fall. So exciting! Painting or drawing? I’ll probably take another life drawing class. I think this has helped my art over all very much.

Life Drawing

I really really liked this model. She had curves!! And her hair was amazing, which means it is really had to draw. I like how the last to came out alot. I was watching another girl draw, and she added background, I really like her style. The very first drawing, basically just lines, is a really quick sketch of a position that I could not for the life of me draw. I like the simple lines, even though it does not catch the whole position, just the shoulders and head. It’s okay if you can’t see it. Well, I think that’s it, have a good one!
