I had my second life drawing class. This time our model was a man, which is good cause I’ve never been good at drawing men. I started the class out well, but then I got frustrated with some of the positions I had trouble drawing. Oh, and I just found out that they want to change this class to a portrait drawing class…which I do need to work on, but I’d rather it stayed life drawing. Guess we’ll see.

I really like the little vulture at the bottom of the page.

The tigers were leaning against the wall to cool down, it was a really hot day. So…that’s what this drawing is supposed to be.

Some giraffe sketches. I really like how these came out. These guys are the reason I fought to get to the zoo on a free Monday. I just wanted to draw giraffes. The one on the top left is my favorite.

These are two of my life drawing sketches. I finally found a class and I am so excited. I really think this is going to help my drawing skills alot! The teacher asked me if I was in high school….blah…but we’ll forgive her because shortly after she said I had ‘natural talent’ and couldn’t believe I’ve never drawn models before. Yay!!! More art to come.

Done with a red pencil – no erasing. This pose was actually quite difficult to draw.

Done with conte crayon. I’m not a fan of conte crayon, but I think this came out rather well for this medium. I was able to do shadows easier (smudging) which seemed to be my biggest problem. I knew I needed to work at it though.

So I went to the zoo to sketch, hoping that kids were still in school. At nine am, when I got there, there were already 20 buses in the parking lot. Kids gallore….. I still had a nice time. I’ve decided my favorite animals to sketch at the moment are Flamingos, Ruffles Tail Lemurs, and The Elephant Shrew.
